The movie Shankofa started off in the modern day castle. The defender of the castle kept telling Mona to go back to her past. I didnt see where the movie was going to take us at first, but then when Mona went down into the caves, she too became a slave and went back in time and her name was straightway Shola. The way they treated the slaves was barbaric! How could anyone rip another someones clothes off, brand them, shackle them, and lay them. When the slaves arrived to the bran-new World they were interchange to work on plantations for their masters. Shola served in the fully grown house, where she was rapped and get the better of whenever the master pleased. I cannot see how the master could get at away with that, but that is how it was back in history. Today we mystify laws against people who rape another person. The comment was make in the movie saying that being born into slavery made it easier to accept the way things were. I can see where this bid is true, because you wouldnt know any better, but being sold into slavery as an adult, it is harder to accept things. As an adult you would earn grown up doing things your way and not taking potentiality from another figure. Some of the slaves tried running away, and I wear offt blame them for running away, I would want to be free also. Kuta ran away because she wanted to have her louse up in a free place.



When she got caught she was beat by one of the straits slaves and died. I couldnt believe that another slave beat her. I wouldnt be able to live with myself if I killed someone. The baby was saved when Nunu cut it out of Kutas belly. I was sword lily that the baby survived, but really upset that Kuta died barely because she wanted to be free. Noble Ali, the one who beat Kuta took the baby to care for it after talking to Nunu. I am glad that he didnt want to seem mean, because if he didnt beat Kuta he would have either been killed or beaten himself.
