According to Websters dictionary, Identity is The assure or quality of being identical, or the same (Pg 415). Anyone who belongs to a group or community could argue this, but what happens when a person identifies in multiple ways or contrasting from those he/she is a part of? Sherman Alexei reflects the difficulties of trying to belong in two different communities, primaeval American and Anglo American in his essay The Joys of Reading and Writing: Superman and Me Sherman Alexie.
Sherman Alexie is a Native American who grew up on a reservation, raised in a typical fashion by his native parents, family, and tribe.
