Luckily I had my key with me; provided upon applying it to the lock, I found it resisted by something inserted from the inside. In a brief word or two, he moreover added, that perhaps I had better walk round the block two or three judgment of convictions, and by that time he would probably have concluded his affairs. The story Bartleby the scratch awl and this particular passage is written from the sums of the Narrator; who is a lawyer. The first convict sets the day and time and the second condemn sets the place for the contributor. We are outside what the teller calls his chambers. He is attempting to enter the chambers when he realizes his key will not upon the lock.
Puzzled, he calls out to see who is inside and there delay in his shirt sleeves and all is Bartleby. He opens the door and tells the cashier to return in a few minutes and he has no choice so he complies. After awhile, the narrator comes back to find Bartleby is not there but then realizes it seems as if Bartleby has been staying in the chambers.
This paragraph in Bartleby the Scrivener caught my eye the most when reading the story. More so the awkward and enervate situation that Bartleby has chosen to put the Narrator through, than the language. However, the language, imagery and life of the passage should not be taken lightly.
